The missile dubbed as Prithvi Defence Vehicle (PDV) was launched from a ship in the Bay of Bengal and can engage targets in the exo-atmosphere region at more than 120km altitude.
108. India successfully test-fired the indigenously developed surface-to-air missile "Akash' from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in Odisha.

India tested its first indigenous air-to-air missile 'Astra' from a Sukhoi-30MKI fighter jet, marking a significant turning point in the decade-long developmental saga of the complex beyond visual range (BVR) weapon. Astra is to initially have a 44-km range with "high single-shot kill probability", while its Mark-II version will be able to hit enemy aircraft over 100 km away.
